We are a small kennel in Reno, Nevada, in the heart of chukar country.  Our dogs are hunted on native chukar and valley quail on a regular basis.  We also find numerous opportunities to hunt pheasant and grouse. Our training grounds consist of miles and miles of prime upland bird habitat. We have over 30 years combined experience with Brittanys and are passionate about the breed.  Not only are our dogs our personal hunting dogs, we successfully train and campaign them in multiple venues, including Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Conformation Shows and Money Shoots.  Our dogs are owner handled in both the field and show ring.  The main emphasis of our breeding program is QUALITY, not quantity.

Our Philosophy

Picture
Our mission at Sierra Mountain Brittanys is to produce the very best quality Brittany puppies possible. We strive to produce healthy, happy, well socialized puppies that will blossom into first class gun dogs, and most importantly, valued members of the family. Each dog used for breeding is carefully and painstakingly selected in order to improve the breed. We make sure that all important health screens are completed, including OFA certification on hips. We put a lot of thought into each litter by selecting a pair that will complement each other.  We also believe wholly in the Dual concept and believe the Brittany should forever remain a Dual Dog.  We continuously strive for excellence in our breeding practices.  Our puppies are carefully and lovingly raised in our home and are ready for their new families at 8-10 weeks of age.

The Dual Dog Concept

Picture
We are proud that the Brittany has more Dual Champions than all the other sporting breeds combined and we believe in keeping the Dual concept alive.  We believe that not only should a Brittany be beautiful and conform to the breed standard; he should  also show intelligence and natural ability in the field.  We strive for excellence in our program, and focus on both correct structure AND natural field ability.  If the dog is not correct in structure, his performance in the field will be hindered.  The Brittany's natural hunting instinct and biddable dispositions make them easy to teach and eager to please.  Because of his willingness to please means the Brittany can excel not only in the field or show ring, but in obedience, therapy, agility, and the home as well.
